Problem

  • Some JIRA items might run across multiple Sprints
  • You want to filter the issues newly added to the Sprint only

For example

  • Sprint 1 (ID: 3001): Item1, Item2, Item3
  • Sprint 2 (ID: 3002): Item3 (due to Item3 is not completed in the Sprint 1), Item4, Item5
  • Sprint 3 (ID: 3003): Item5 (due to Item5 is not completed in the Sprint 2), Item6, Item7, Item8
  • You want to do a filter to search for unique items belong to the Sprint, which means it does not cover the items of previous Sprints.
    • Sprint 1: Item1, Item2, Item3
    • Sprint 2: Item4, Item5,
    • Sprint 3: Item6, Item7, Item8

Solution

Create filters like this

  • Filter for unique items in Sprint 1: Sprint = 3301
  • Filter for unique items in Sprint 2: Sprint = 3302 AND Sprint not in (3301)
  • Filter for unique items in Sprint 3: Sprint = 3303 AND Sprint not in (3301,3302)
